Redemptions

A redemption is the record created when a gift certificate is used at your business.

Looking up and redeeming a certificate

Redemption is a code-lookup flow. Staff enter or scan the certificate code; Avantly looks it up (with rate-limiting to prevent brute-forcing codes) and shows:

  • The remaining amount
  • The validity window
  • Which of your locations the current staff member is permitted to redeem it at — relevant if you have multiple locations, see Customers & locations

To complete a redemption, staff record:

  • The amount being applied
  • The total bill amount
  • An optional discount amount
  • An optional invoice number
  • Number of guests
  • An optional comment
  • Which location performed the redemption

Avantly logs who authorized the redemption and the timestamp automatically.

If the certificate’s campaign allows partial redemption, the certificate keeps a remaining balance and can be redeemed again until it’s used up or expires. Otherwise, it can only be redeemed once. See Campaigns for where this is configured.
