Redemptions
A redemption is the record created when a gift certificate is used at your business.

How it works
Section titled “How it works”Redemption is a code-lookup flow. Staff enter or scan the certificate code; Avantly looks it up (with rate-limiting to prevent brute-forcing codes) and shows:
- The remaining amount
- The validity window
- Which of your locations the current staff member is permitted to redeem it at — relevant if you have multiple locations, see Customers & locations
What gets recorded
Section titled “What gets recorded”To complete a redemption, staff record:
- The amount being applied
- The total bill amount
- An optional discount amount
- An optional invoice number
- Number of guests
- An optional comment
- Which location performed the redemption
Avantly logs who authorized the redemption and the timestamp automatically.
Partial redemptions
Section titled “Partial redemptions”If the certificate’s campaign allows partial redemption, the certificate keeps a remaining balance and can be redeemed again until it’s used up or expires. Otherwise, it can only be redeemed once. See Campaigns for where this is configured.
